The end of the world (year) is upon us…

Okay, so what’s with this weather and where the f*ck did 2022 go?

It seems we’ve been saying this every month this year, but we just can’t believe that it’s December already 😳 These past few months have been filled with so many celebrations + plenty of we’re just so fucking proud moments.

Give us a sec while we take a look back 👇🏼

UniBar Adelaide got inducted into the SA Music Hall of Fame and threw a huge party to celebrate, we caught up with the six local bands taking to the VALO Adelaide 500 stage as their names quite literally went up on billboards, and we celebrated the local music industry and ourselves at the 2022 SAM Awards held at the brand-spanking-new Hindley Street Music Hall.

We’re keeping the craziness going right through to the end of the year, so it looks like we’ll be organising gifts and a Chrissy celebration v last-minute again (sorry ’bout it).

O’Ball is back babes 🎉

Ooooooh sh*t yeah! O’Ball is back with a vengeance.

Since Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs tore it up at UniBar back in 1975 (true story), The University of Adelaide's O'Ball has been a staple in SA's live event calendar as a way to welcome new and returning uni students in the best way possible – by throwing an epic summer party!

On Saturday 25 Feb you can catch Mashd N Kutcher, Montaigne, Hope D, BIG WETT, Mason Dane plus local artists Kanada The Loop, The Empty Threats, Oscar the Wild, Colter and DJ Checkers across two stages.

We’re super keen for this one in February! Get your tickets before they’re gone → bit.ly/3EMBX21

Don’t miss a beat 💥

We’ve got some pretty exciting announcements to reveal very soon…. Make sure you’re subscribed to our e-news and have updated your preferences so you’re the first to know.

Start your engines 🏁

Rev those engines, Bands On Track returns to the stage this weekend!

Since 2012, Music SA's Bands On Track comp has given dozens of emerging South Australian musicians the opportunity to perform live at the after-race concerts. Over the years, these lucky artists have supported national and international heavyweights including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Robbie Williams, Keith Urban, Guy Sebastian and Hilltop Hoods.

We met up with some of the lucky local artists while their names went up alongside their musical heroes on the pedestrian overpasses joining the Adelaide parklands.

Check out some of the fun snaps that Adelaide’s friendliest photographer (aka Samuel Graves) got of the talented bunch (while passing traffic egged ‘em on). And have a bloody look at those flame pants!

Catch Madura Green, MARLON X RULLA, The Empty Threats, Workhorse, Bermuda Bay and Oscar the Wild on stage December 1-4. Kicks off TONIGHT! Tickets here.

Rebels dominate the SAM Awards 🏆

We’re so humbled to have been recognised as a finalist for Best Innovation in the 2022 SAM Awards! Some of our rebel family – past and present – were also finalists (and winners!) in this year’s awards and we're heaps chuffed about it!

Space Jams was our first music industry client – this was back in early 2020, almost a year before Rebel Yell was launched. Josh Morphett’s efforts saw Space Jams recognised as a finalist for Best Regional Venue/Activation and winner of Best Small Festival/Event. Congrats Josh!

Some of our fave local artists were finalists in the People’s Choice category this year including sweet darling hearts The Empty Threats for the People’s Choice Experimental Award, as well as Best Group, Best Music Video and Best Release, and Lucas Day (aka Australia's best foot-drummer), who was a finalist for People’s Choice Rock Award and Best Solo Artist.

The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Fest was (deservingly so!) a finalist for Best Major Festival/Event. After three consecutive event cancellations, this much-adored event kicked open the gates of Adelaide Showground in July to over 21,000 music and beer-loving punters!

Finally, our mates at PAK Records were recognised for their epic release party they threw for The Empty Threats in the front car-park of Wundenbergs Recording Studio! The event was a finalist for Best Small Festival/Event!

Congratulations again to all the finalists and winners at this year’s awards, we’re so bloody stoked to see our SA music community thriving!
